What then is the Auxilary Relay Socket accomplishing? That doesnt seem to be connected to power anywhere? Again, sorry if these are very simple questions, i am much more of a mechanical guy than an electrical guy. this would switch it on/off and also be able to control my speed via Mach3. Would this be used to switch the spindle on/off? So i would connect my VFD to the socket, and then my spindle to the VFD. the neutral that goes to the IEC socket is straight from the 240V, and the live wire that goes into the relay is controlled on/off by output 2 from the Gecko. Sorry if these are very dumb questions, this is all just so new to me. It is drawn as seperate grounds and i just want to make sure there is no reasoning for this. however this socket would be at 48 volts or whatever your power supply is, correct? and the Auxilary Socket Output would just be a standard recepticle?Īlso, i would assume it would be possible to connect all three grounds into power IEC so that it was all grounded through the main power cord. What is the purpose of the second IEC socket and the Auxilary Socket Output? If i follow correctly, the first socket is the main power (effectivley plugged into the wall) and from there it goes through a relay and output2 to power another socket. i am hoping that someone will be able to help me out. I know that phomann is gone for the next couple of weeks, but i received my CNC electronics package for Christmas and am having a little trouble following the wiring diagram that he has put together.

So I think the 24v switching is underpowered even though you would think it should work fine it doesn't.ĭrop it to 2m a min if you have it set higher if all problems stop then its the PS for sure upgrade it you will be a happy camper.

The 24v PS that we have isn't the best I could only get 2m a min out of mine 269oz steppers without stalling ticking growling etc what speed are you ruining? a good read is this thread its long but good link () I sent him a few pms to him and in the end it was his power supply I have a 48v ps now as well and run my machine will run at at 9m without an issue still get the nice hiss fro the Driver box but nothing from my steppers. Merry xmas and all that stuff, I get a hiss sound from my G540 but that is normal as says gecko guys but my steppers make no noise sounds a bit strange that yours is maybe the PS. One thing I did notice is the steppers seem to make more noise when idle and the G540 makes winding down noise when the you take you finger off the jog button. After a little more soldering I got the G540 running my little CNC. I decided to make my ony using two plugs. its a female plug!! :~ And I dont have a male to male parallel plug. unplugged the parallel lead from the back of the Xylotex and CRAPPPPPP. opened the Xylotex box disconnected the 24v and connected to the G540, enabled pins 10 to 12 on the G540. So I've soldered all the wires for the 269oz steppers in place and the 2k7 resistors in place.

I thought I'd have a go at getting my G540 running using my Xylotex power supply. For a 4 meter length that's a resistance of 0.21 Ohms.Īt 3.5 Amps, The voltage drop is. With regard to the wire size, 22AWG wire has a resistance of 0.016Ohms/ft. If you want to wire your EStop to the disable input, then go ahead, its your call as to whether you think your system is safe. I find it useful to flick the switch, so I can manually adjust the axes. In the diagram, the enable switch can be used to disable the drives.

If I publish a diagram, I need to do the EStop properly. In the end, if you have a small machine, a proper EStop may not be needed. That way, if Mach3 is running awry, by removing the power, you can ensure that power is removed. To ensure that your Estop does what it should, You need to remove power from the drives. For all you know, your machine may continue to to run awry. If the problem is caused by the G540 or Mach3 malfunctioning, then you do not know if pressing the EStop will do anything at all. If you plan to wire your ESTOP switch through the Disable input, then when you punch your EStop button, all you are doing is informing the G540 that you have a serious problem. Additionally, Pin 15, "FAULT (Input to PC)" is made active. Pin 10 on the G540 is labelled "DISABLE Input (ESTOP)" When left open, the drive outs for the 4 drives are disabled.
